Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash on Portage Avenue

Winnipeg Police CrestA 61-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition Tuesday morning after be struck by a vehicle at Portage Avenue and Berry Street.

The crash happened at around 7:40 a.m. and closed Portage Avenue in both directions between Brooklyn and Hampton in St. James.

Police say a Toyota Yaris driven by a 27-year-old woman was travelling eastbound on Portage Avenue approaching Berry Street. The victim was on the northeast corner of the controlled intersection and began crossing Portage Avenue in a southbound direction when she was struck.
