Warrant Issued for Man After Fatal Downtown Winnipeg Assault

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man after the death of Cyril Quentin Weenusk on July 5.

The 26-year-old Oxford House man was found badly injured in the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street after an altercation. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

A warrant for Geordie Douglas Wood, 22, of St. Theresa Point, Manitoba has been issued. He is wanted on second-degree murder charges.

Wood is described as an aboriginal man, dark hair and slim build. Police don’t have a photo available of Wood for distribution.
