The body of a 17-year-old boy who went missing while swimming in a dam near Winkler has been recovered.
Travis Bauman was swimming with two friends on Wednesday evening when he didn’t resurface. Emergency crews were called out to the scene at around 9:30 p.m. near the diversion dam about five kilometres east of Winkler.
An underwater recovery team had been on scene in the RM of Rhineland with search and rescue officials since the boy’s disappearance.
RCMP say the area where the boys were swimming had very fast-flowing current due to recent heavy rains.
