Manitoba RCMP have charged a Shamatawa man in the death of a missing a 37-year-old woman from the community earlier this week.
The woman was reported missing on Wednesday, July 13 after last being seen one day prior. A search began, and on Thursday, a local fisherman located a body in a nearby river at around 12 p.m.
Police identified the body as that of the missing woman.
On Saturday, Philip Miles, 37, was charged with second-degree murder.
Police say both the victim and suspect were known to teach other.
Miles remains in custody and will appear in Thompson court on Monday.
