Panhandler Struck by Vehicle at Higgins and Main

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police say a 51-year-old man who appeared to be panhandling is in hospital after falling into traffic Friday afternoon.

It happened at around 12:40 p.m. in the area of Higgins Avenue and Main Street.

The man was struck by a tractor-trailer truck and taken to hospital in critical condition. Police say the victim lost his balance and fell into the westbound lanes of Higgins just west of Main.

He has since been upgraded to guarded condition.
