WINNIPEG — The fifth annual Manitoba Filipino Street Festival is moving downtown.
After years of hosting itself in the Maples, the festival is benefiting from the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s Host It Downtown program.
“These events help bolster local sales and keep wealth in the community, expanding on downtown’s unique footprint as the place for festivals and events,” said Stefano Grande, CEO of the BIZ.
The event on Saturday, August 20 includes a parade, flea market, dancing, ethnic costumes and community association tents lined along Broadway.
The Host It Downtown program launched in 2015, stimulating more than 15 events and inject approximately $1.8 million into local economic spending.
The festival draws a crowd of about 8,000 people. For a complete schedule, visit FilipinoStreetFestival.ca.
