BRANDON, Man. — Three men have been charged following an assault and home invasion in Brandon on Saturday morning.
Police were called to Waterloo Crescent at around 6:21 a.m. for a report of unknown people inside a home yelling at a resident.
Three people attended to the residence looking for another man after being let into the garage.
Police say the male resident was assaulted while trying to determine the location of the man the suspects were looking for. One of the men broke into the rear door of the house, and once inside, kicked in a door of a bedroom and attempted to steal items from the home.
The victim and his girlfriend were threatened with a knife and told not to call police before the suspects took off.
Officers arrived and took the three men into custody. A fourth man was seen running on 34th Street and was tracked down by the canine unit. The 18-year-old, from Cranberry Portage, was found not to have been involved in the incident and was released.
A 27-year-old man from Portage la Prairie, and a 19-year-old man and 26-year-old man from Brandon, face several charges. They were scheduled to appear in Brandon court on Sunday.
