A man displaying erratic behaviour had to be Tasered twice by Brandon police on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the rear of a restaurant in the 400 block of 10th Street at around 4 p.m. to check on a man. The 23-year-old provided a false name to an officer from the bike unit and was believed to be impaired by a drug or other substance.
A second officer assisted and the man was arrested for public mischief. While attempted to be placed in handcuffs, the man pushed back at officers and pulled his arms away. One of the officers grabbed the man’s right arm and noticed he was clenching a knife in his hand. When he wouldn’t drop it, a Taser was used and the suspect was taken down to the ground. A further struggle continued and police deployed their Taser a second time.
No one was injured in the incident and the man will appear in Brandon court later today.
