An early morning fire in Portage la Prairie has claimed the life of one person.
Firefighters were called to the residence on 15th Street at around midnight on Friday. The house was engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived on scene.
Once the blaze was extinguished, rescuers located a deceased person on the main floor. RCMP say the person was the only occupant in the home at the time.
The identity of the deceased hasn’t been determined.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
