‘Beer Bandits,’ One Wearing a Goalie Mask, Rob Manitoba Beer Vendor

August 26, 2016 2:37 PM | News

BeerJust call this the most Canadian robbery ever?

RCMP are looking for two men who broke into a beer vendor in Russell, Manitoba on August 15.

One of the culprits was wearing a goalie mask to conceal his identity. The other? Mitts/gloves, a large coat, ball cap and his face covered. Not the most ideal outfit for mid-August weather.

The robbery occurred at 3:38 a.m. when the two suspects smashed the glass of the store’s front door to gain entry. They made off with an undisclosed amount of alcohol.

Of the goalie mask-wearing suspect, RCMP said, “He may have been a defenceman or forward in disguise as he was wearing jersey #17 — a non-traditional number for goalies.”

Video of the robbery was posted to the RCMP’s YouTube channel with the title, “#17 in your program but #1 on the Russell Manitoba RCMP wanted list.”

“Anyone with information about this theft or has played against a goalie matching this description is asked to call Russell RCMP,” officers said.

Cheeky.
