Manitoba Mother Charged in Death of Infant Daughter

RCMP Logo VehicleA 22-year-old Thompson woman is in police custody after her three-month-old daughter died on Sunday.

RCMP were called to a Thompson residence on Dominion Bay at around 10:20 p.m. for an infant in medical distress. When emergency crews arrived, they immediately began performing medical care to the child. She was taken to hospital, but pronounced deceased the same evening.

A one-year-old boy inside the home was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Julienne Towers has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, failing to provide the necessities of life and two counts of child abandonment.

She remains in custody and will appear in Thompson court on September 1.
