Two people are dead after the minivan they were in collided with a semi-trailer truck near Winnipeg.
RCMP say the semi failed to stop for a red light before it slammed into the second vehicle Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of the Perimeter Highway and Pipeline Road on the city’s north side.
The impact spun both vehicles into oncoming westbound traffic on the highway.
The semi hit a third vehicle and either the semi or the van then collided with a fourth vehicle.
The driver and a passenger in the minivan, both residents of Oak Point, Man., died in hospital, while a child in the third vehicle was treated for minor injuries and released.
Police say alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
