WINNIPEG — Theo Deezer passed for 345 yards and four touchdowns as the Manitoba Bisons downed the Alberta Golden Bears 42-12 on Friday for their first win of the 2016 CIS football season.
Alberta jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the game’s first five minutes but were held pointless the rest of the way by Manitoba’s defence _ adding two points off a safety late in the fourth quarter.
Deezer hit Riley Harrison for a 21-yard touchdown to put the Bisons (1-2) on the board, then ran in a touchdown of his own from one-yard out to give his team a lead they would never give back.
Shai Ross had a 40-yard touchdown reception as Manitoba went into halftime with a 23-10 lead.
Kicker Ryan Jones opened the third quarter with a 22-yard field goal before Deezer found both Harrison and Ross for their second touchdowns of the night to put the game away.
Scott Pearson was 6-of-13 passing for just 70 yards to go along with three interceptions for the Golden Bears (0-3).
