Winnipeg police were on scene Saturday afternoon investigating a suspicious item in the city’s North End.

Emergency crews had a portion of the 400 block of Robertson Street blocked off to traffic as the bomb unit was brought in to probe the item further.

A ChrisD.ca photographer on scene said the item appeared to resemble a black tool box as witnessed from roughly 150 feet from the police line.

Police were initially called out at around 1:40 p.m. The roadway was reopened to traffic shortly before 5:30 p.m. and police tweeted their investigation was complete.
