WINNIPEG — Two people are in police custody after officers discovered a gun and drugs in their vehicle on Saturday morning.
Police spotted a Dodge Neon travelling in the area of Cottonwood Road and Drake Boulevard at around 5:50 a.m. driving erratically.
The vehicle accelerated toward Rue Archibald and drove over a median, colliding with a traffic light standard near Cottonwood Road and Rue Archibald.
Unable to further drive the vehicle, both occupants attempted to flee on foot. Officers were able to apprehend the two and placed them in custody.
Police found a .22 calibre rifle, bolt cutters and methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Cody Hartog, 21, and Shannon Ogal, 37, have been charged with numerous drug and weapon-related offences.
Hartog also faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
