Funding for a grant program backed by the provincial government will encourage building owners in Brandon to improve their property’s exteriors.
The Downtown Facade and Storefront Improvement Grant Program will provide matched funds of up to $15,000 for each facade facing a sidewalk for eligible storefront improvements.
Buildings located on corners or buildings with more than one facade on a public street may be eligible for additional funding.
“Attractive buildings enhance the character of a neighbourhood and draw more people to the community, which helps local businesses to thrive,” Indigenous and Municipal Relations Minister Eileen Clarke said on Monday.
The funding is available to property owners only or the main floor commercial tenant. Chain franchises and government offices and agencies are not eligible for the grants.
The deadline to apply is October 7.
