Five communities across Manitoba are lacing up this weekend for the second annual Red Shoe Crew Walk.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba is presenting the three-kilometre walk on Saturday to fundraise for their programs and initiatives.

“We’re thrilled to launch our second annual Red Shoe Crew Walk in support of keeping families close through our two core programs, Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room,” said Wendy Galagan, CEO of RMHCMB.

“This walk responds to the needs of our families from all over rural Manitoba who wish to aid our cause and offers a wonderful day of family fun.”

Walks are planned in Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Dauphin, and Waywayseecappo First Nation.

Participants collecting pledges will see 100 percent of funds raised going directly to RMHCMB.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. with the walk getting underway at 10 a.m. Winnipeg’s walk will begin at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park.

Jess Hoy from QX 104 will emcee the Winnipeg walk, where Ronald McDonald will also make a special appearance.
