WINNIPEG — The renovated Pavilion at Assiniboine Park has reopened after undergoing upgrades that began in February.
The Assiniboine Park Conservancy has partnered with the Winnipeg Art Gallery to mark the launch of WAG@ThePark, which will provide the park with expertise to curate exhibitions drawn primarily from the APC collection, as well as from the WAG collection.
“Our partnership with the WAG is a natural fit and we are excited to be working with such a renowned organization to bring art to the community,” said Margaret Redmond, APC president and CEO.
New exhibits on display at the Pavilion — as curated by the WAG — feature early works by Ivan Eyre, watercolours and prints by Walter J. Phillips, and a new exhibition of historical photographs featuring the original Pavilion as well as surrounding spaces in Assiniboine Park.
The Pavilion also houses The Pooh Gallery with Winnie the Pooh artifacts and memorabilia. The park is still seeking a new restaurant tenant for its main floor space.
