A contingent of orange will hit the street today for Every Child Matters — Orange Shirt Day.

More than 200 University of Manitoba students, faculty and staff from the College of Nursing are participating in the event, conceptualized by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Participants will begin their walk at 10:30 a.m. from the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. At the end of the walk, nursing students will deliver a pledge to the NCTR stating that students will practice culturally safe nursing care and will ally “with Indigenous children, youth, and their families to create an environment that supports, affirms, and celebrates all peoples.”

The walk will begin and end on the U of M’s Fort Garry campus.
