Parts of western and northern Manitoba are under a provincial flood watch as a storm system develops.

Areas along the Duck Mountains, Swan River, The Pas, the north portions of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg are under the watch.

Between 70-100 millimetres of rain has already fallen since Monday on the western and southwest part of the province including the Riding Mountain area, Virden and Dauphin area. An additional 10 to 20 mm is expected later Wednesday.

Forecast models show the most rain will fall along the north end of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg including The Pas.

The province warns that overland flooding may occur in the areas along the storm’s path.
