WINNIPEG — The Manitoba Liberals have named Judy Klassen as their interim leader to guide the party until next fall.
Klassen is the party’s MLA for Kewatinook and takes over for Rana Bokhari, who recently stepped down from the position following her party’s defeat in last spring’s provincial election.
“I believe this party can prove to Manitobans that we are a thoughtful, constructive and compassionate party with a real drive to change things for the better,” Klassen said.
Under party rules, Klassen cannot run for permanent leadership, unless she steps down from the position no later than June 20, 2017 — after which time she would be eligible to run.
A permanent leader will be chosen in the fall of 2017.
