Two Women Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 75

RCMP Logo VehicleTwo Winnipeg women were killed Sunday when a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Highway 75 struck an ongoing vehicle head-on.

The crash happened at around 6:15 a.m. just north of Provincial Road 247 south of St. Norbert.

RCMP say a car heading northbound in the southbound lane collided with a southbound vehicle, sending the first vehicle into flames in the west ditch. The 21-year-old Winnipeg woman driving the car was taken to hospital and pronounced deceased.

The 26-year-old Winnipeg woman in the southbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP say speed, alcohol and distracted driving are considered factors in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time.
