What’s Open and Closed on Remembrance Day in Winnipeg

Remembrance Day

Here’s what’s open, closed or operating on a reduced schedule in Winnipeg as Canada pauses to remember our veterans on Friday, November 11. To find a service near you, visit veterans.gc.ca.

Shopping Centres
Kildonan Place — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
St. Vital Centre — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cadillac Fairview Polo Park — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Manitoba Liquor Marts
All Manitoba Liquor Marts will open at 1 p.m. until regular closing hours on Remembrance Day. Exceptions include cityplace, which will be closed all day, and Brandon West End Express, which will close one hour early at 9 p.m.

The Forks
Tenants are open at 1 p.m. The Common is open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights
Open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free admission to all veterans and members of the Armed Forces November 11-13.

Johnston Terminal at The Forks
Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Children’s Museum at The Forks
Open 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. 50% off admission for veterans and current service members.

Assiniboine Park Zoo
The zoo, Wild Things Gift Shop, Assiniboine Park Conservatory and the Pavilion will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Park Café will be closed.

All veterans, military personnel and their families will receive free admission until Saturday, November 12. To receive free admission, tickets should be purchased at the zoo and identification is required.

City of Winnipeg Civic Offices
All civic offices are closed on Friday, November 11.

Recycling/Garbage Collection
For all customers with City collection service (single-family homes, multi-family residential buildings, businesses) – there is no recycling, garbage or yard waste collection on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11, 2016.

Brady Road Landfill
Friday, November 11 — Closed
Saturday, November 12 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, November 13 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Winnipeg Transit
On Friday, November 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Winnipeg Transit will be observing a moment of silence in honour of Remembrance Day. At 11 a.m., transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.

Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Friday, November 11.

Leisure Centres
All Leisure Centres are closed on Friday, November 11.

Swimming Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Friday, November 11, with the exception of the Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.

The Pan Am Pool will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Animal Services Agency
The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Friday, November 11.

Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Remembrance Day.

Cemetery offices will be closed on Remembrance Day, Friday, November 11.

Winnipeg Parking Authority
Friday, November 11 — Closed
Regular hours will resume Monday, November 13
