Winnipeg Man Arrested After Fleeing Home with Rifle

RCMP Logo VehicleA 32-year-old Winnipeg man is in custody after fleeing a residence on Fisher River Cree Nation with a gun on Tuesday.

RCMP were attempting to execute a Winnipeg police arrest warrant on the man for sexual assault when he exited the home with a rifle. Police say he fled into a heavily-wooded area south of the community at around 11 a.m.

The RCMP emergency response team and canine unit was brought in to assist.

The man was taken into custody at around 6 p.m.

Charges are still pending
