WINNIPEG — Two provincially-run casinos in the city will operate 24 hours as part of a pilot project beginning December 2.

Club Regent Casino and McPhillips Station Casino will open at 10 a.m. on Friday and stay open until 3 a.m. on Monday.

Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries made the decision to go 24 hours based on patron demand. The move is expected to generate additional revenue as many gamblers remain at the casino when it regularly closes at 3 a.m.

The four-month weekend pilot project will be evaluated at the end of its run.

The casinos will remain closed on Christmas, closing at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and reopening at 10 a.m. on Boxing Day, December 26.

South Beach Casino and Resort, located just north of Winnipeg in Scanterbury, will also be participating in the around-the-clock trial.
