Robbery Suspect Needs Surgery After Police Dog Attack: IIU

Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba - IIUThe Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is probing the arrest of a man after he was injured in Portage la Prairie.

RCMP were responding to an armed robbery on Wednesday evening when three suspects fled the scene. One of them was tracked down by a police dog, who was let loose to help apprehend the man. He suffered injuries to his leg during the arrest and required surgery in hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
