WINNIPEG — RCMP in Manitoba have safely located Luisa Noyemi Alvarenga within an hour of an Amber Alert being issued for the child.

The eight-year-old girl was taken by her biological mother, Colleen Sheryl McIvor, 43, from her Portage la Prairie residence at around 11 a.m. Friday.

Chief Superintendent Mark Fisher says Luisa and her mother were found in a stolen black 2012 GMC Sierra pickup truck on Portage Avenue Friday evening. Fisher says the vehicle was also spotted earlier at the airport.

Police were concerned for Luisa’s well-being and said she may have been in Long Plain First Nation.

No charges have yet been laid against McIvor.
