Manitoba RCMP say a northbound half-ton truck was travelling on Highway 8 when it struck a semi turning south at the intersection of PR 27 and Highway 8.

The crash happened at around 5:30 p.m.

The driver of the half-ton — from the RM of St. Andrews — was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 50-year-old Ontario man driving the semi truck wasn’t injured.

The intersection was closed for about five hours as police investigated.

Alcohol isn’t considered a factor and both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
