Winnipeg police are reminding motorists to not leave their vehicles unattended while their keys are in the ignition.

Many motorists are warming up their vehicles ahead of time with the recent cold snap, but police say that could spell an opportunity for theft.

“Always ensure that vehicles keys are secure and don?t leave spare keys hidden within the vehicle,” police said in a release.

Further auto theft tips are available on the WPS website.
