An Oak Bluff man ended 2016 on a high note, winning $1 million on a Lotto Max ticket in the December 30 draw.

“I always try to pick up a Lotto Max ticket when the jackpot is high. And especially when there are Maxmillions draws,” said winner Michael Sparks. “I like having the extra chances to win.”

Sparks was one of the 28 Maxmillions winners and says he doesn’t have any immediate plans for his recent windfall.

“I’ll put some money away for the kids’ education,” he said. “After that, I’ll take my family on a vacation and then put the rest in savings.

Sparks purchased his winning ticket at the School Road Superstore lottery kiosk at 3192 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg.
