WINNIPEG — Only six conference games remain for the Manitoba Bison men’s hockey game, meaning it’s crunch time for the Herd.
The Bisons have won five out of their last six games and hope to keep the streak going when the Calgary Dinos visit town this weekend.
“They’re a good team. They’ve had a lot of success this year,” Bisons captain Jordan DePape said of Calgary.
“I think we have to stay disciplined… if we do take penalties, we’ll be confident to kill those off. But we’re just going to have to stay disciplined.”
Fourth-year forward DePape is tied for 10th in the conference with 10 goals.
Manitoba sits fifth in Canada West standings with an 11-10-1 record behind fourth-place Calgary. The top four teams will host a playoff round.
Puck drop tonight is at 7 p.m. at the Wayne Fleming Arena (U of M’s Fort Garry campus). Game two is Saturday at 1 p.m.
Outside of the rink, Bisons’ Brett Stovin and Jonah Wasylak have been growing their hair for the 2016-17 season in order to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. The second-year players have nearly reached their goal of $2,000 and will have their locks trimmed February 10 at Crave Salon at University Centre.
