WINNIPEG – Police say a Winnipeg man facing child pornography charges used a Russian-based image hosting site to upload sexually suggestive pictures.

An investigation by the internet child exploitation unit of the Winnipeg Police Service discovered that someone had created an account on the hosting site in June to gain access to pictures of a young girl.

Investigators say additional pictures of the same child were uploaded to the site in July, and online sexual comments in relation to young children were made this month.

Police identified a suspect who was arrested at a Winnipeg business on Monday after numerous electronic devices were seized at a home.

A 32-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged with possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography.

Winnipeg police were tipped to the suspicious activity by the National Child Exploitation Co-ordination Centre.
