Fred Penner Lauded at Canadian Folk Music Awards

Winnipeg children’s singer-songwriter Fred Penner walked away with some new hardware over the weekend.

Penner won Children’s Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in Ottawa.

Penner’s album, Hear The Music, features Ron Sexsmith, Alex Cuba, Basia Bulat, The Good Lovelies, Terra Lightfoot, Afie Jurvanen (a.k.a. Bahamas) plus backup vocals from Fred’s own family, with production by long-time collaborator Ken Whiteley.

The 13th annual Canadian Folk Music Awards included 75 nominees and 20 award winners.
