Winnipeg Police CrestA 29-year-old Winnipeg man is in police custody following a number of firearms-related incidents dating back to July of this year.

Police have charged Samuel Tache McKay with two counts of attempted murder after two men were shot on October 31. A 24-year-old man and 28-year-old man were both taken to hospital after a shooting at a home in the city.

While still armed, police say the suspect threatened to shoot four other people nearby.

Two days prior, another man was injured by a sawed-off shotgun, police say the suspect wielded.

On July 8, police say the suspect assaulted a woman with a firearm.

During a standoff on Saturday in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue, officers from the tactical unit were able to coax the suspect to give himself up. A .22 calibre revolver was later seized from the residence.

McKay remains in custody.
