WINNIPEG — Creative Communications students from Red River College are giving back through the airwaves today with a 12-hour radiothon to help children living in the city’s West Broadway neighbourhood.

“To West Broadway and Beyond” runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on radio.rrc.ca.

“Having the ability to help local charities, while putting our students’ skills to use is what Red River College is all about,” said Dan Vadeboncoeur, radio instructor at RRC.

“We are happy to support such an amazing organization like West Broadway Youth Outreach, who help youth in Winnipeg learn important skills like leadership, accountability and confidence.”

Proceeds from the radiothon will provide supplies and funds for West Broadway Youth Outreach (WBYO).

Students are also collecting donations in the atrium of the Roblin Centre at 160 Princess Street. Requested items include sheets of youth bus tickets, school supplies, old video games, books, board games, toys, juice boxes, tickets to concerts or events and for people to sign up to become volunteers for WBYO.

Updates throughout the day will be posted to the radio station’s Twitter page, @RRCdistrict.
