A 35-year-old man was killed Sunday night when Manitoba RCMP say he drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 6 and hit a semi-trailer truck hauling lumber.
The driver, from the RM of Portage la Prairie, was travelling northbound at around 11 p.m. at Road 79 North when the accident happened.
Emergency personnel in the RM of Woodlands responded to find scattered lumber on the highway and the man’s vehicle in the ditch. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 43-year-old man driving the semi, along with a 42-year-old woman and one-year-old male infant, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
Police continue to investigate.
