WINNIPEG — University of Manitoba student-athletes are rallying against bullying to a group of Winnipeg students today.
The Bisons are speaking to Grade 4, 5 and 6 students at Gladstone School to deliver a message of anti-bullying, marking the 200th local school the Bisons have visited since the program began in 2006.
Bisons Against Bullying was started in conjunction with the University of Manitoba Athletes Council (UMAC) and consists of a free one-hour presentation on the issue.
The co-chairs for the 2017-2018 season are women’s hockey player Karissa Kirkup and Drew Cochrane of the men’s swimming team.
In the 2017 edition, five different schools around Winnipeg, including Principal Sparling School, Greenway School, Weston School and Earl Grey School have been visited prior to Gladstone.
Schools can request the Bisons attend to speak to their students about bullying by filling out a request online at GoBisons.ca.
