Two Men in Custody Following Robberies, Shooting

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have two men in custody and have laid charges after a gas station robbery and shooting last month.

Police say one of the suspects filled up a vehicle at a gas station at 1909 Main Street on November 8 and fled without paying.

On November 13, a man was shot in the lower body after getting into a fight with the two suspects in the 100 block of Higgins Avenue. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Nelson Joseph Berard, 39, of Portage la Prairie was arrested on November 15.

Police continued to investigate and arrested Burt Gillis Steuart, 35, of Winnipeg on Monday.

Both men were also linked to a vehicle break-in in the 200 block of Dalhousie Drive on November 30.

Officers executed a search warrant at a home in the first 100 block of Macalester Bay, where they found a stolen 2007 Dodge Caliber from Portage la Prairie in the garage, and personal property stolen from the vehicle on Dalhousie Drive.

Both suspects face a list of firearms-related and robbery charges.
