Three Charged in Robbery, Assault on Ellice Avenue

Police and the canine unit tracked down man who is said to have assaulted another man at a convenience store on Tuesday evening.

Police were called by a woman who reported her husband had been assaulted in the 500 block of Ellice Avenue.

The suspect fled on foot, but the canine unit tracked him down to an area in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue.

Charles Kaniki, 18, of Winnipeg, has been charged with robbery and five counts of failing to comply with a recognizance order. He remains in custody.

Police also arrested and charged two more men on robbery and weapons charges. Both were released on a promise to appear.
