Brandon police were called to a west end hotel on Friday after staff say a man falsely identified himself as working for a national company to obtain a hotel room.
Police arrived and the man jumped out of the hotel room window to try and get away. The canine unit was brought in and tracked the guest to a garden shed in the area.
A 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident.
Police say the same man is responsible for defrauding a number of Brandon businesses of food, lodging, tools and computers.
