Chocolate Candy Cane Biscotti

WINNIPEG, Man. — There is a reason that cookie exchanges and swaps are so intertwined with the holiday season! Not only do you leave delicious cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve and munch on cookies at holiday parties, but they also make a great gift! Last year, I baked a bunch of these Chocolate Candy Cane Biscotti and other cookies. I then packaged and wrapped them up in a simple, yet festive way. I included a handwritten card and the written recipe to one of the cookies, so they could replicate them if they ever wanted. While this was a cheap gift, it wasn’t cheap in the bad sense. You see, while my friends unboxed a tin of delicious biscotti and then returned home to eat them, the thought of me and the time that went into baking and writing a heartfelt note. Isn’t that more meaningful than getting them that gadget or gift card they wanted?

Chocolate Candy Cane BiscottiThere is no denying that these Chocolate Candy Cane Biscotti also make a great treat for yourself! These cookies store well in an airtight container so feel free to make a full batch and nibble on them on your coffee breaks throughout the week. Not a fan of candy cane? Candy pieces can easily be swapped out for more chocolate bits, nuts or dried fruit. It is fine to add about ¼ cup of different mix-ins, but be mindful not to put too much more in the cookie dough or they will cook differently than the recipe states.
