A 60-year-old Gillam man was killed Friday when his private plane crashed near Baldur, Manitoba.
Family confirmed on social media that the pilot was Harold Parsonage. RCMP say he took off in a Piper aircraft from Gillam en route to a private landing strip in the RM of Argyle. He was scheduled to land at 6:30 p.m.
Shortly after his arrival, contact was lost with the pilot and the aircraft.
A Canadian Forces Hercules began a search Friday night and continued Saturday with the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) of Manitoba. The plane was located at around 3:30 p.m. in a wooded area close to the landing strip.
Parsonage was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating.
