WINNIPEG — If a trip to Assiniboine Park Zoo is in your plans for mid-January, you’ll need to alter your schedule.
The zoo is closing for “major maintenance” January 15-21 to conduct a thorough cleaning, and building refreshes throughout the property.
“The closure will allow us to undertake a variety of maintenance projects in an efficient and timely manner without impacting the visitor experience,” said Archie Pronger, APC head, facilities and capitol projects.
Work planned for the closure week includes painting, refinishing floors and deep cleaning in exhibits, back of house areas, and public buildings including Gateway to the Arctic, Tundra Grill, and others.
Pronger says the closure will allow the zoo to achieve its work prior to the busy spring and summer seasons.
The zoo will re-open at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 22.
