Man Suffers Broken Jaw, Fractures During Winnipeg Arrest

Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba - IIUThe Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is looking into the arrest of a man whose jaw was broken during an encounter with Winnipeg police.

The unit says police were called to a break-in Sunday afternoon on Arthur Street in the Exchange District. They attempted to take a 25-year-old man into custody, but he resisted and officers used force to subdue him.

The man went to hospital with a broken jaw and other fractures.
