A Manitoba RCMP officer has been charged with leaving a firearm in a northern Manitoba hotel room while on duty.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba determined that Const. Geremy Newbury carelessly left his service pistol unsecured after checking out of the room on August 15, 2017.
Newbury was served with a summons last Friday to appear in court on February 1, 2018.
The IIU says no further comment on the case will be made as the matter is now before the courts.
