A would-be Good Samaritan was struck with a block of ice and a pair of brass knuckles in Brandon on Tuesday while trying to hold an alleged vehicle thief from taking off.
Police were called to a business in the area of 18th Street and Brandon Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. for a report of three males trying to break into vehicles.
A citizen was able to hold one of the suspects for police, but the two co-accused returned to help their accomplice. That’s when police say, the citizen was assaulted. The person suffered minor injuries.
Two men from Brandon, aged 19 and 21, are facing assault and mischief to property charges. An 18-year-old man from Souris was arrested for breach of peace, but not charged in relation to the incident.
