A 43-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after RCMP say she tried to smuggle drugs through security at the Thompson Airport.

Police say the woman was trying to transport half a pound of marijuana and prescription pills to Tadoule Lake, Manitoba in her luggage.

Sheila Thorassie of Sayisi Dene First Nation (Tadoule Lake) has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.

She has been released on a promise to appear.
