If by December 27th you’ve had it with the Christmas season, the city’s Let’s Chip In depots will be more than happy to take your tree.
The depots will remain open until January 31, 2018. Residents are reminded that trees placed at the curb next to recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.
The city asks that you remove all plastic tree bags, tinsel, lights, decorations and tree stands before leaving a tree at a depot.
Beginning in early January, all depots will have free wood chips available. You’re asked to bring your own container to collect them.
Last year, 9,414 Christmas trees were recycled by Winnipeg residents.
