With another frigid winter weekend ahead of us, the City of Winnipeg is inviting the public into civic facilities to warm up.
Buildings such as City Hall, public libraries, swimming pools and leisure centres are being offered up as areas to escape the cold as wind chills reach the -40 range over the coming days.
The facilities will be available during operating hours, including the lobby of the Winnipeg police headquarters, which is open 24/7.
The city says anyone who sees a person in need of assistance or is injured due to extreme cold should contact 911 immediately and remain with the individual until help arrives.
