The Manitoba government won’t increase land lease and service fees for cottagers in provincial parks for another two years.
The extended freeze on cottage fees means services such as garbage disposal, water and wastewater, and road maintenance won’t increase until at least 2021.
“We are continuing to explore the development of a fair and sustainable fee structure, and are working in partnership with cottagers to ensure Manitobans can enjoy their cottages and be able to pass them on to future generations,” said Sustainable Development Minister Rochelle Squires.
The moratorium on such fees was established in 2016 and was set to expire in July.
Squires added any future increase will be done in consultation with cottage owners and associations.
